Why did I become an Artist?
I often ask myself, sometimes it even seems to me that it is not me painting.
Perhaps, because when I was 5 years old and was staying with my Granny,
one summer she had tenants – a young couple, students of an Art College.
I was watching them and was wondering how they manage to draw and paint so well.
They, to prevent me from disturbing them, gave me brushes and paint and offered to try.
Of course I immediately took them and painted a ship.
And, of course, they praised me.
May be it was then when I became an Artist?
Later at school someone stole my drawings and there I had practical use from my talent -
I faked cinema tickets and medical certificates with seals so that I could play truant.

Now I paint because I simply cannot live without it, not for money,
only because the process of painting is interesting to me by itself,
although I cannot do without money, either.
