(1919-1996)

Born in Klimovichi, Belorusisan Republic, the USSR.
His father was an Artist, his mother was a pianist and taught foreign languages.

At the age of 16 he took part in the Youth Art Exhibition in Moscow.
By its results and recommendations from professor I. Brodsky
he was accepted at the Art Academy named after Repin,
from where he moved to Moscow to the Art Institute named after Surikov.
He graduated in 1942, workshop of S. Gerasimov.
He painted his graduation work in Samarkand, where the institute was evacuated.

 

In 1941 he volunteered to join
the Militia Troops to fight for the Motherland
and later the Northern Fleet where he fought
with the enemy till the USSR won the war.

In 1943 he became a member of Artist’s Union of the USSR
and starts taking part in exhibitions.
In 40-ies he made decorations for the Bolshoi Theater,
in 50-ies landscapes and decorative panels for new building of
Moscow State University on Lenin Hills.
He travelled all over the country a lot.
He was a master of the genre,
landscape and still life although most of all
he preferred landscapes considering it his main call.
 The artist’s works are now in collections and museums all over the world. 
In 1995 he became an ”Honored Artist of the Russian Federation”
