"I paint what bring me joy,
without which I cannot do".

Ekaterina Stutz

Ekaterina was born in 1963 in Ufa.
Her parents were medical workers;
there were no professional artists in her family,
although family legends told that her mother’s ancestors were icon painters.
Katya began drawing from the moment
she could hold a pencil when she was 2 years old.
And since then she had known that she would be an Artist.
Her first classes were at the art studio
of the Pioneer House in Sverdlovsk (Yekaterinburg).
Later, the family moved to Abkhazia, the town of New Afon,
and in 1976 Katya started her education in
Moscow Art School at the institute named by V. Surikov.
From 1985 to 1989 she studied at the institute, faculty of art.
Her teachers were V. Tsyplakov, V, Zabelin, Y, Korolyov.

Now she lives and works in Podmoskovye
(regions not far from Moscow), in the city of Zhukovsky.
She is a member of Artist’s Union of Russia.
Since 90th she has been exhibiting actively,
her works are awarded by laureate diplomas in
La Bourges (France), Moscow, “Golden Brush”.
Her works were displayed by various art projects and galleries.
In 2010 the publishing house
“Our isograph” published the album of her works.
She has had many personal exhibitions
and ones with her husband Rustam Kurbatov
in various places in Moscow, Moscow region, Switzerland.
Ekaterina has double citizenship of Russia and Switzerland,
her grandmother comes from this country.

But the theme of Russia is closer to the artist;
She feels the beauty of nature and flowers of Middle Russia,
which she paints at the Volga, where she spends whole summer,
not far from an old Russian city of Kineshma.
Her landscapes are various and contrast,
as city and rural life,
but are always warmed by the nice feeling and full of dreams.

“Painting of Ekaterina Stutz is the painted chronicles of her feelings,
which are full of harmony, based on the childlike trust to life.
And we, viewers, are thankful to her for the full
and pure preservation of these feelings,”
says Tatyana Maksimenko, poet, member of Writer’s Union of Russia.
