I do not remember how I became an Artist.
Those who knew me as a child, say that I was dreaming only to become one.
Of course, I also thought of becoming a traveller and a military officer.
Also, I made a lot with modeling clay and had some success, but I am afraid of this passion so far.
The sculpture will be for the next life. Even at the college I was induced to start it, but in vain.

I was born in Rezekne, a small Latvian town.
Thanks to parents, who often took me out of town to the forest or lake, which a plenty in Latgalia.
There I absorbed the surrounding beauty with e fishing rod or a basket.

After school I went to Russia to study at Penza Art College to become an Artist director.
I was studying with diligence and pleasure.
In 1979 I graduated with honor and returned to my native town of Rezekne,
where I regularly take part in exhibitions.
In 1984 I became a member of Artist’s Union of Latvia.
I also work a lot in graphics.
Lino print and mezzotinto did not leave alone for a long time.

Most of all I like plein air, where there is fresh air,
the light is sliding and the time does not allow to go into details.
Magic instant state is not always catchable -
only when there is delight from happiness when seeing the beauty.
When the paints and canvas are near,
and there is music in the soul.
Then it is all fair and not comparable with the work in the workshop.

I like to discover new sides of the reality,
find wonders in what is not usually noticeable - it is an intrigue and even temptation.
The Artist is always a discoverer, before and after him
nobody will look at the event in the same manner as the Artist will.

Paints are the way of perception and conversation with yourself,
field, sky, you and those who will come next.

As it seems to me, I do not work too much and take the brush only
when I cannot bear this power, passion and creative potential anymore.
Then I am unstoppable.
One after another there go paintings big and small.
The size is not important for me.
It is important to catch the mood, to mix it with the paints and to stop.
